“I spent my entire life in my comfort zone.”
This statement is terrifying, isn’t it?
If you are doing the same thing over and over waiting for change, or something exciting to happen, you are wasting your time.
Too many of us, including myself, have learned this the hard way in some aspect of his/her life, and the crazy part is, it affects so much more than just that ‘area’ of your life.
In order for change to happen, you have to go out there and make it happen. You have to be willing to be willing to do things that aren’t necessarily ‘easy’, or comfortable.
FACT: This is hard for anyone at first.
BUT, it is also the difference between those who go out there and live their journey on this planet to the fullest and make their dreams a reality, vs. those who spend more time talking about what they could’ve/would’ve/should’ve done than actually doing any of those things.
I believe my passion for (and obsession with) ‘fitness’ is largely because it has helped me with all aspects of my life so much – in fact it IS what has made my life, well my life!
You see, fitness is the personification of ‘getting uncomfortable’ and pushing one’s limits to achieve goals.
Heck, if you can get yourself out of bed or off the couch to sweat it out, push your own limits and get breathless, and you can do this with commitment, there is very little that will stop you in life. You learn a new work ethic, a new level of commitment, of perseverance and a new perspective on what you can achieve in this world if you are willing to put the work in.
I get many messages and conversations about ‘motivation’, and how people think the key is to find motivation, and while that is very important, that is only the step.
Motivation is simply what gets you up and out of bed, it’s commitment that makes you follow through, day after day, no matter how ‘hard’ it may get.
The point of this post is not to make you focus on the things you aren’t doing.
But being aware and conscious of certain things, has brought more happiness to my life than a choosing say the most ‘comfortable, well known path’.
It doesn’t matter if you run with the lions, travel to every country, and take the first ride of space tourism; what matters is how you live your life, how well you take care of yourself, and how well you take care of others.
This is your life, and you only get one. There’s no right or wrong way to live it.
What matters is that you do.
