There have been a few times in my career when I’ve been thoroughly disappointed — even disgusted — with fellow women in the workplace and in life.
No, I don’t expect all my female colleagues and associates to go out of their way for me and sing “Kumbaya” together, but I’m always stunned when a woman who could have been helpful to me wasn’t, when a woman who could have been a mentor, chose not to be, when a woman tried to hurt me because of her own fear, insecurity or what have you.
I’d could say a lot more about all of these encounters and ‘types’, but my point is not to single anyone out. My goal is to ask the question, “Why?”
Obviously, not all women are like this and there are plenty of men guilty of the same behavior, but why do so many women try to tear each other down instead of lift each other up?
My female colleague and fitness star, Tracy Campoli, have bonded over this topic. In fact, it was a refreshing experience in working with each other, and the passion for mutual support, that caused this special collaboration.
First, we sat down and talked candidly about this exact topic of ‘comparing or competing with others – we’ve ALL been guilty, which is why we are so passionate about Empowering vs Competing, meaning: Choosing to support other women, not compete with them.

The Amanda + Tracy EmpowHer Workout
We took our own advice and collaborated to create this killer but super fun two-part workout for you!
Here’s the breakdown:
1) Intense Cardio Express
2) Bodyweight Toning and Sculpting
They can be done back to back for a full body cardio and strength session on a day you want to go hard and intense, OR, you can choose to split it up!
Bottom line, both workouts work you in different yet complimentary ways.
